The club was established on 26th February 1976 and within a very short time of its existence, it started coaching classes to young budding students and also took up the responsibility in organising different chess tournaments to popularise the game of chess in the state as well as in the country and thereby opened the scope to all the Indian players to excel their skill by playing with highly reputed players of different countries and to achieve international master or grandmaster norms or titles.
